That sentence makes me smile,
as it brings to mind the sweetness of ~
Craft. Children. Creativity.
Mindfulness. Quiet. Hand-craft.
Play. Fun. Wonder.
And now the world has been blessed with a book of just that title.
The gorgeous blog We Bloom Here,
has been enjoyed by many of us for a few years now.
The author, whose words and work I find beautiful, colourful
and inspirational, is dear Margaret Bloom.
Her new book "Making Peg Dolls", is just wonderful.
The book is filled with beautiful photographs, diagrams and illustrations
amongst it's 192 pages and hardback cover.
There are patterns for over 60 different dolls plus accessories,
each with easy to follow-step by-step instructions.
...I asked my boys to each choose their favourite page.
And this is my favourite.
A few words from Margaret...
"There is a game of self-reflection I stumbled across recently – it involves
answering the question: What is your superpower? After thinking about it a moment it struck me
that my superpower is… whimsy. I love
making mobiles (delicate white paper birds which float beneath the ceiling), I
love making toys for my children and I love inspiring creativity in
others. The most magical opportunity
writing this book has offered me is the chance to sit at tables surrounded by children eager to begin
creating. I especially love the moment when
quiet falls as the children settle into concentration, carefully drawing little
faces and applying paint to small wooden dolls."
